Bettina Dickson Rusher

I am primarily an abstract painter with a love for process, discovery, and the unexpected. Inspired by the natural world, I explore organic forms, weathered textures, and the traces that time leaves behind. The contours of the landscape, the intertwining of roots, and the worn surfaces of fantasized archaeological sites offer a rich visual language for my work.
I often begin with loose, sometimes chaotic layers, embracing spontaneity and allowing forms to emerge through the act of painting. Shapes gather, overlap, and dissolve. Soft, blurred edges meet stronger marks, creating a subtle tension between growth and erosion, emergence and disappearance.
