JENNIFER GRAYLOCK

Jennifer Graylock (United States) Conceptional Artist, Photographer, creates media artworks incorporating photography from her original archive. By emphasizing aesthetics, Graylock approaches a wide scale of subject matter in a multi-layered format, taking the viewer on a ride that is both thought provoking and humorous.

She merges several seemingly incompatible worlds into a new universe.  Transitioning mass media exaggeration with certain formal aspects in our contemporary society, Graylock creates works that can be seen as societal self-portraits. Sometimes they appear idiosyncratic and quirky, at other times, they seem typical by-products of American superabundance and marketing.

Her media artworks are in direct response to her surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context. With a conceptual approach, she touches upon overlapping themes from life experience.  Reoccurring pop culture subject matter is in full view to force provocation and the investigation of our inherent expectations. By applying abstraction, Graylock creates intense personal moments, masterfully crafted by means of rules and omissions, acceptance and refusal, luring the viewer to ponder life’s existence.

Her works often refer to everyday pop culture. Jennifer creates a world where light-heartedness rules and where rules are meant to be broken. By using popular themes such as sexuality, pop culture, celebrity, fashion, beauty, Jennifer seduces the viewer into a moment in time that will never happen again. Moments depicted, only exist to punctuate the human drama and clarify our existence.

Her conceptual artworks feature coincidental, accidental, and unexpected connections, combining unrelated aspects lead to surprising analogies.

Jennifer Graylock currently lives and works in Naples, Florida.
