ARLENE AGAR
Growing up on a dairy farm, my earliest works were drawing of life around me.
Later, in grade school, I won a National Scholastic Award for a cartoon. My college
purchased one painting each year from a student, and they chose one of mine. These
small positive things spurred me on to a life with art as a major part of my existence.
For the next years I never stopped painting and studying with other artists, while
pursuing a business career.
I did a series of Polo paintings and attended workshops at the Horse Park in
Lexington, KY. Plus, portraits, landscapes, still life and abstracts. I have been
fortunate in having sold nearly all paintings and accepting commissions. My belief
is that art is a reflection of the inner being; each painting takes on a life
of its own. My goal is to bring some joy and beauty into the lives of others.
Now I am able to devote the majority of my time to painting.
